“AS PER THE INDIAN PHILOSOPHICAL BELIEF, THE BODY IS MADE OF FIVE ELEMENTS – EARTH, WATER, FIRE, AIR AND SPACE. I BELIEVE, SADIQ SAYED WAS BORN WITH THE SIXTH ELEMENT – PHOTOGRAPHY!”
Padma Shri Jyoti Bhatt
Born on June 5, 1941, Sadiq Sayed pursued studies in Physics, Chemistry, Sociology and Psychology for his basic education. But that was not enough for him. His inner voice landed him at the Faculty of Fine Arts, of world renowned M. S. University of Vadodara to study his passion, that is Photography.
His professional tenure at Jyoti Limited, Vadodara, as Photography in-charge, provided him inexplicable exposure.
He pursued his passion and satiated his persistent hunger for creativity and innovations during his innumerable industrial assignments for immensely noteworthy industrial corporates and institutions, not to forget the assignments accomplished for the UNICEF.
Along with learning, he also had an honor to teach photography to students pursuing their post-graduation at highly distinguished institutes, like Faculty of Museology, M. S. University, Vadodara, National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, School of Environment & Design, Anand, Faculty of Journalism & Mass Communications, M. S. University, Vadodara.
Sadiq Sayed, led by the passion for photography and motivated by the urge to explore the unseen, had the opportunities to spread his tiny wings of imagination in a couple of corners of the world, like Nepal, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Switzerland, Germany, Holland (The Netherlands), United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Turkey and Jordan, to name just a few, besides our own India. At this juncture, when I try to summarize his immense inclination for and immersion in photography, I can see it in many hues and shades...
From persistent curiosity to learning forever, from deep interest to passion beyond words and from inherent motivation to life- long dedication. Inherent combination of eyesight and insight in this noble soul makes him unique in an uncommon way.
As per the Indian philosophical belief, the body is made of five elements – earth, water, fire, air and space. I believe, Sadiq Sayed was born with the sixth element – Photography!
His motto of life: “Learn from Yesterday, Live for Today and Hope for Tomorrow.”
